Birthday 2007

“Birthday”

Thanks to everyone that came out skating Friday night to support charity.  We raised over $1000 for the organizations!! Look for “Skating Part II” on Friday, June 22 at Treo Roller Rink.

Thank you also to everyone that came to the “Lunch-n-Learn” luncheon at my office. This week I celebrated both death (my mother) and life (my birthday) and was unsure how I would handle it emotionally.  Luckily I was blessed to be surrounded by friends and also made some new ones.   I learned that giving back and bringing people together can be a very powerful thing. I was able to realize that we all have our struggles in life, but your faith will pull you through.

Bunnies

“Bunnies”

I have never been an animal lover or hater.  I’ve been animal neutral.  One morning I looked out my bathroom window and saw two rabbits in the backyard.  One was close to the house and the other was clear across the yard close to the fence.  Although they were far in distance, they were facing each other.  Each morning for almost a week I would look out the window and there they both stood in the same position…. and then they were gone.  I kinda missed those bunnies.

Well several days passed and I was downstairs looking outside.  One of the bunnies was back in the normal position.  But what was even more amazing was the new baby bunny that hopped across the yard.  I smiled with joy as I watched this beautiful creature cross just a foot in front of me. It made me better appreciate nature, the gift of life and finding peace in simple things.

(As a tribute to the two rabbits, I’ve included this photo from the Playboy party (lol). The colors are inverted – the couch was really white and my dress mainly black) …

Derby Weekend 2007

“Derby Weekend”

To whom it may concern:

For those of you that saw us out on Thursday night, I hope we didn’t offend you.  It was a cold winter, we’ve been at the gym and we have been waiting to get out and be seen.

Sincerely,

Michelle’s legs

Derby weekend was very enjoyable.  My dates for the weekend were my closest friends: Renee, Shannon and Tioka!  We went to Ernesto’s on Thursday, the Playboy Party and Kye’s on Friday, and the Grand Gala and Griffs on Saturday.  Don’t worry, though, I went to church bright and early on Sunday morning and then came home and crashed!!!  Thank you also to my pal Zach who is always willing to ‘bust a move with me’ on the dance floor when a good song comes on and to Doug Bibby, Elliott Horne and Gip Palm for all the ticket giveaways for the Onyx Louisville readers.

What Happens in Vegas/Louisville

“What happens in Vegas is not Louisville”

There’s a saying….. “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas”  Guess what folks?  We don’t live in Las Vegas!  We live in Louisville, Kentucky where everyone (or at least one of their friends) knows your name.   Have fun!  Be safe! PARTY LIKE A ROCK STAR!!  Just remember we all have ot return to work on Monday.  I’ll be out some of everywhere, including the Grand Gala.  If you see me out, please say hello because I love meeting the OnyxLouisville readers.  I’m a non-drinker so all I’ll be drinking is “Water on the Rocks”…. but you can find me on the dance floor!

Signs

“Signs”

Life is sometimes about not taking yourself so seriously.  Some of my friends and I went out in Nashville, TN recently and thought it would be fun to wear wigs while we were down there.  Here’s a photo of mine with my ’flowing locks’!!

Signs that he/she is NOT “the one”:**

1. He/she sings and knows all of the dance moves from the latest B2K album.

2.  He/she invites you over for a homemade dinner which consists of Hot Pockets, fruit cups and oatmeal cream pies.

3. You all go to a concert at the Palace.  You’re dressed to the nine, and he/she shows up at the door looking like he/she just finished mowing the lawn.

4.  You ask him/her what church he/she goes to.  He/she says “I don’t have time to go to church.  I close down the clubs at 4am, stay posted up in the parking lot until 6am and sleep until noon.”

5. He/she invites you out to eat at an expensive restaurant. He/she orders drinks, appetizers, the meal and desserts. When the check comes, he/she looks at the bill, reaches for his/her wallet and says “Oh snap! I forgot my wallet. Will you pay?”… and after the date he/she never returns your calls.

6. He/she drives a new BMW but lives in a studio apartment with an air mattress, cardboard table, lawn chairs and a plastic plant.

**For entertainment purposes only!  No animals were harmed while compiling this (although some egos may have been bruised).  The majority of these are purely fictitious… but not all!!!!

Servant Song

“The Servant Song”

I was raised Episcopalian and went to the Maundy Thursday service at my home church.  We read the following scripture, “Now that I have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.” Everyone was invited up to participate in the foot washing.  Nobody in my row moved, except me. Right before it was my turn “The Servant Song” started playing.  This is the same song that was played at my mother’s funeral.  She was a genuine servant.  I looked up and said a prayer to my mother.  I then sat down to have my feet washed and became a servant as well by washing the feet of the person behind me.  I have been blessed with many things and hope to help and give back to others along the way
